Play HA and learn some of the cookie cutter builds.

Standard cookie-cutter balanced:

1 x W/E Shock
1 x Mes/E Surger with windborne speed
1 x Mes/N Surger with consume corpse
1 x Earth Ele Warder w/ EQ/AS
1 x utility char (eg. trapper, curse nec, fire ele)
1 x Woh Monk
1 x SB/Infuse monk
1 x RC prot monk

Easy eh?

How does this build you linked to Real Roy ever kill anything with just one warrior and a spirit spammer that does basically nothing other than try to land distracting shots on key skills? Against spike teams this type of oath shot guy provides a little more vaule with constant fertile/symbiosis spam. Against non-spike teams, it is like you are fighting every battle 7v8. What happens when you run into another build of this type on an annihilation map -- a battle lasting 30 minutes or until one team ragequits?

Over the past couple weeks my guild has run balanced. We have always dumped the earth ele for a second warrior (either another shock axe or hammer warrior) and then used either a resolve trapper w/ spike trap, a curse necro, or an earth ele for utility. Ward v melee is really not necessary with two copies of Aegis and the spike trap/barbed trap combo helps make up for the lack of ward v foes. On relic run maps it is hilarious to see an opponent go to grab the relic and blow up due to the traps. Maybe this is more of a fame farming build than a holding build, but it certainly kills IWAY and spike teams with consistency. After winning halls with it using a spike trap trapper as the utility guy, I am now looking for something with better holding potential.

I am thinking something like this to replace the resolve trapper:

Oath Shot {E}
Whirling Defense
Barbed Trap
Dust Trap
Flame Trap/Fertile Season
Distracting Shot
Fertile Season/Symbiosis
Rez Signet

Expertise - 14 (11+3)
Wildnerness Survival - 12 (10+2)
Beast Mastery - 11 (10+1)

Of the 2 spirits, which is more important for holding? Or are both really necessary meaning I should just dump flame trap?
